A luxury resort in St Lucia is set to be the first Caribbean property featuring in-room tablets from Crave Interactive, a global leader in in-room tablet and app-based solutions for upscale hotels.
During the recent HITEC trade show in Austin, Texas, Crave announced that it had confirmed a signing for its in-room technology with The BodyHoliday, an award-winning resort set at the exclusive northern end of St Lucia.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be providing our technology to The BodyHoliday,” said Crave Commercial Director Tim Butterworth. “Crave’s in-room tablets are particularly well-suited to resorts with a broad suite of on-site guest facilities and activities; there really is no better way to promote in-house services and to create scope for upselling.”
Based in the UK, Crave is the market leader for in-room tablet technology in Europe. Its tablets are currently installed in various prestigious UK properties, including The Lanesborough in London, and Chewton Glen. It has recently expanded its international profile with several major signings in the USA.
Crave’s in-room tablets allow for instant in-room food and beverage ordering, spa bookings, and guest communications, instantly updateable digital directories and menus, and limitless scope for additional sales and tailored in-room advertising.
According to Crave CEO, Gareth Hughes, the company’s unique proprietary software platform, Crave Cloud, enables it to support sites anywhere in the world.
“The nature of our remotely operated, cloud-based system means that geographical distance really doesn’t mean anything to Crave. We already offer instant, 24-hour technical support for tablets installed in hotel rooms everywhere from the Scottish Highlands to California,” he said, adding that the signing with The BodyHoliday was an important moment in Crave’s rapidly expanding global reach. “They are our first confirmed signing in the Caribbean, but we’re sure that other resorts in the region will take note of what’s happening there,” he said.
Crave’s tablets will be installed in 155 rooms at The BodyHoliday, including its luxurious penthouse suite. The resort, which sits on a 150-metre beach and is surrounded by 42 acres of tropical gardens, also features an award-winning spa, the Wellness Centre, which is one of the top spas in the Caribbean.
Spokesman for The Body Holiday, Vinod Biscette, said that the resort was excited about working with Crave.
“Our guests spend almost all of their time within the resort, and we have a complete range of top-quality facilities and activities onsite, so being able to communicate directly with guests about everything that’s on offer via the in-room tablets will be brilliant,” he said. “It will enhance the guest experience tremendously, which is always our first priority, and it will also have very clear commercial benefits.”
