Crave Interactive is bringing its state-of-the-art tablet technology to the wilds of western Scotland. One of the company’s latest confirmed signings is the luxury Isle of Eriska Hotel, which stands on its own island at the mouth of Loch Creran in Argyll.
The luxurious rooms at Eriska – which are set in a historic 19th-century country house – will feature Crave’s custom-made in-room tablets, which allow for instant digital communication with guests, direct room service ordering, spa bookings and more.
According to Crave’s CEO, Gareth Hughes, Eriska is a property ideally suited to the in-room tablets.
“Of course, Crave’s in-room tablets are designed to enhance the guest experience, with a brilliant array of content – from international news to detailed local travel guides. But for a hotel business they also offer serious commercial benefits when it comes to encouraging ordering, upselling, promoting in-house services with push-messaging, and so on. Where you have a country house property like Eriska, with lots of its own facilities onsite, the potential for this sort of thing is enormous,” he said.
The Isle of Eriska Hotel features its own Michelin-starred restaurant as well as a recently opened second eatery, a golf course, and an ESPA spa, and offers guests various organised activities, on- and off-site.
“We’re delighted to be working with Crave,” said Isle of Eriska owner, Beppo Buchanan-Smith; “We provide guests with a high degree of modern luxury in a richly historical setting, and the in-room tablets will fit into the guest experience here perfectly. We have so much on offer at the hotel, including our new Deck Restaurant at the Stables Spa, and we’re sure that the tablets will prove very beneficial in letting guests know what’s available.”
Crave Interactive is the European market leader providing in-room tablet and App-based solutions for high-quality hotels. Its exclusive in-room tablets are the first in the world to be designed specifically for use in hotel bedrooms, and come preloaded with Crave OS, Crave’s proprietary operating system, allowing for instant in-room food and beverage ordering, bookings, and guest communications, instantly updateable digital directories and menus, and limitless scope for additional sales and tailored in-room advertising.
Crave’s tablets and Apps are currently installed at prestigious hotel properties across the UK, including The Lanesborough London, The Landmark London, and Chewton Glen, as well as in various overseas properties in the US and the Caribbean.
According to Crave’s Commercial Director Tim Butterworth, the company’s unique proprietary software platform, Crave Cloud, enables it to offer instant technical support to hotels in isolated rural settings, such as Eriska.
“Distance doesn’t really mean anything to Crave,” he said. “Some other high-tech devices offered to hotels require onsite support so aren’t really suitable for places on remote Scottish islands. But the nature of our remotely operated, Cloud-based system lets us offer instant, 24-hour support and updates to tablets in rooms anywhere from St Lucia to Argyll.”
